David Patrick Wilson – Writer/Director/ Producer/Actor/Entrepreneur

In addition to his work as actor, writer, and director, David studied marketing research and deveopment for three years with renowned Swedish economist/entrepreneur, Barbro C. Ehnbom of the Stockholm School of Economics.

He began his writing career as an apprentice in the CBS-TV young writer’s program under industry titans, Sam Rolfe and Fred Freiberger at Lorimar Productions (Dallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, etc.) writing for the critically acclaimed, but short-lived Ron Liebman series, "Kaz."

After co-starring in the cult classic, “Eddie and the Cruisers,” he traveled to Sweden for a well deserved vacation.  But, his sojourn was cut short by an opportunity to work there. He wrote, produced, directed and starred in the international hit musical cabaret, "End of the Rainbow," followed by, "Monkey Business; In the Jungle." He also co-starred with Dennis Hopper in "The Inside Man" and "Beautful Jewels" with Swedish legends, Gosta Eckman and Lena Nyman. He subsequently wrote the original story,  “Tale of the Tired Gun,” that became the basis for the Clint Eastwood film,  “The Unforgiven.” At about that same time, he wrote the first draft script for Stanley Kubrick’s last film,“Eyes Wide Shut” (originally entitled, "Crimes of Punishment") that was produced by and starred Tom Cruise.

An avid student of business, particularly Broadcast and Entertainment (B&E), in 1998 he authored the original marketing plan for the mega-hit, “Blair Witch Project.”

He and his R&D partner, marketing research specialist Dr. Daniel Acuff, widely considered the world's foremost authority on youth marketing, continue to develop new methods and models for the marketing and merchandising of films, TV, stage and related products, goods and services. They have been engaged in this work for more than 25 years. Their company is Film-Rx Partners.

A principal owner of Willy-Gilly Productions, Inc. as well, along with his wife, Nan Gill-Wilson, they are completing the final touches on the maiden campaign for the feature film, “COLLAR”. They are currently initiating another round of funding for the budgets of two new, 'coming-of-age' dramadies, "The Big Ride" and "Shadow Serenade." Both films are scheduled to go into production this year.

In addition, they have initiated a full training program for actors, writers, directors and technical personel as part of the initiative for their 501c3 company, Academy of Film, Television, Stage and Performing Arts (AFTPSA). They are working with local theater companies to train technical and behind the scenes talent to support the growth of the entire entertainment industry in New York’s Hudson Valley.

They are also the driving force behind reestablishing the area as a pre-eminent locale for developing, producing and distributing independent films, TV and stage productions.

His other credits include: “The Bronx Zoo” (series),  “Unspeakable Acts”, “Wiseguy”, “Magnum P.I”, “Chips”, “Almost Summer”, “Hometown, USA”, “Gray Lady Down”,  “Audrey Rose”, “I Love You, Perfect”, “Coins in the Fountain”, “Gangster Chronicles”, “Studs Lonigan”, “The Inside Man”, “Kojak”, “Young Riders”, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, “Look Back in Anger”, “It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman!”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “Status Quo Vadis” and “Swing”… to name a few.
